Alaska Ultimate Safaris offers bear viewing from Homer by both helicopter and de Havilland Beaver aircraft. Our R44 helicopter is configured for the pilot plus up to three guests, making it ideal for small private groups, couples, families, and flexible wilderness access. The helicopter allows us to explore rugged coastlines, glaciers, mountains, volcano views, and remote bear habitat with precision and flexibility.

For larger groups and classic Alaska aviation experiences, our Beaver aircraft provide an iconic way to reach some of Alaska’s best bear viewing areas. Depending on the season, our Beavers may be configured on wheels or floats, allowing us to access remote beaches, lakes, coastal wilderness, and bear viewing destinations near Katmai National Park and Lake Clark National Park.

Helicopters were introduced to us many years ago by a friend. From the moment we first took control of the helicopter  we knew it was going to be awesome. A few of us got together and leased a helicopter so we could get our ratings.  We had the aircraft for over a year and spent almost every waking moment flying around Homer. Most of us affectionately called the helicopter “KaDee” or “K D” which is the last two letters of the her registration number. The access it granted us was unprecedented. Most of us have bush planes with big tires, or at least friends with bush planes, to land on gravel bars and ridge tops but nothing compared to this. Basically we added “heli” to every adventure; heli-hiking, heli-fishing, heli-camping, heli-glaciers, heli-fun.
